A variational approach to Gibbs artifacts removal in MRI

نویسندگان

چکیده

Abstract Gibbs ringing is a feature of MR images caused by the finite sampling acquisition space ( k -space). It manifests itself with patterns around sharp edges which become increasingly significant for low-resolution acquisitions. In this paper, we model artefact removal as constrained variational problem where data discrepancy, represented in denoising and convolutive form, balanced to sparsity-promoting regularization functions such Total Variation, Generalized Variation $$L_1$$ L 1 norm Wavelet transform. The efficacy models evaluated running set numerical experiments both on synthetic real acquisitions brain images. penalty coupled discrepancy term yields, general, best results data.

a frame semantic approach to the study of translating cultural scripts in salingers franny and zooey

the frame semantic theory is a nascent approach in the area of translation studies which goes beyond the linguistic barriers and helps us to incorporate cognitive and cultural factors to the study of translation. based on rojos analytical model (2002b), which centered in the frames or knowledge structures activated in the text, the present research explores the various translation problems that...

A Variational Image-Based Approach to the Correction of Susceptibility Artifacts in the Alignment of Diffusion Weighted and Structural MRI

This paper presents a method for correcting the geometric and greyscale distortions in diffusion-weighted MRI that result from inhomogeneities in the static magnetic field. These inhomogeneities may due to imperfections in the magnet or to spatial variations in the magnetic susceptibility of the object being imaged--so called susceptibility artifacts. Echo-planar imaging (EPI), used in virtuall...

Artifacts in Diffusion MRI

This chapter focuses on artifacts that are relevant for diffusion • imaging studies of the brain in a clinical research setting. For typical clinical studies, the most relevant sources of “physi • ological noise” artifacts are subject motion and cardiac pulsation, and the most common sources of “system-related artifacts” are eddy current distortions. Artifacts not only increase the variability...

Variability of perfusion dark rim artifacts due to Gibbs ringing

Methods Sub-pixel shifts were introduced in 5 in-vivo raw-data perfusion studies, where a DRA was visible. The shifts had a step of 1/8 of a pixel ranging from 0.125 to 0.875 of the in-plane pixel size. The unprocessed raw-data was phase-shifted using MATLAB before reconstructing it on the scanner using the same image processing as the original data. The original perfusion studies were done on ...
